Requesting Reasonable Modifications

CCATD is committed to providing safe, reliable, courteous, accessible, and user-friendly services to our riders. To ensure equality and fairness, CCATD is committed to making reasonable modifications to its policies, practices, and procedures to avoid discrimination and ensure programs and services are accessible to individuals with disabilities.

In keeping with the spirit of the law and definition of “reasonable modification,” CCATD will grant requests that meet each of the following criteria. The requested modification must:

  • Not constitute a direct threat to the health and safety of others
  • Be necessary for the individual in question to have full access to transit service
  • Not constitute an undue administrative and financial burden
  • Not fundamentally alter the existing service that is provided

When feasible, a request for modification to a CCATD service should be made in advance before CCATD is expected to provide the service. For more information regarding reasonable modifications, and to see examples of acceptable reasonable modifications, see the Department of Transportation’s Final Rule on the topic.
